Azabu-Juban
Azabu-Juban
Azabu-Juban is a 92cm × 122cm original work by Jason Hatchell, created with spray paint, acrylic and varnish on canvas.
Named for the Tokyo subway station where the emerald-green Namboku Line meets the magenta Oedo Line, Azabu-Juban reflects the movement and energy of the neighborhood above. Winding white forms weave through the composition like streets, passageways, and people moving in different directions. Layers of color, texture, and intersecting lines evoke the lively mixture of traditional shops, restaurants, bars, international influences, and everyday life that makes Azabu-Juban so distinctive. Beneath the apparent chaos is a sense of order—a place where old and new, movement and stillness, somehow find their way together.
